ABSTRAK Kata "janga" atau "tidak boleh" seringkali kita dengar dan dipergunakan untuk melarang atau mencegah anak-anak
melakukan sesuatu. Tanpa disadari kata ?jangan? tersebut memiliki dampak tersendiri terhadap perkembangan dan cara
bersikap anak di masa yang akan datang. Dalam penelitian ini akan dipaparkan gaya bahasa dan strategi kesantunan apa
saja yang dapat digunakan untuk melarang anak. Korpus data yang digunakan di dalam penelitian ini adalah buku anak
Jip en Janneke 4 dan Jip en Janneke 5 karya Annie M. G. Schmidt. Pemaparan mengenai kalimat-kalimat larangan pada
anak dalam penelitian ini berdasarkan teori gaya bahasa dan teori kesantunan oleh Brown dan Levinson (1987). Di
akhir penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa gaya bahasa opsomming atau enumeratie, retorische vraag, serta strategi
kesantunan tanpa basa-basi dan strategi kesantunan tidak langsung dapat digunakan untuk melarang anak dan paling
sering dijumpai dalam kedua buku.
ABSTRACT We often hear and use the word 'no' or 'do not' to forbid or prevent children from doing something. Parents often fail tonotice that the word 'do not' has its own impact in affecting children's development and the way they behave in thefuture. This research shows politeness strategies and figure of speeches that could be used to prevent children fromdoing something. This research explores and examines the negative sentences used towards children based on figure ofspeeches theories and politeness strategy theories by Brown and Levinson (1987). The objects (data) used in thisresearch are two books written by Annie M. G. Schmidt namely Jip en Janneke 4 and Jip en Janneke 5.
