Media massa seringkali menampilkan tubuh langsing sebagai standar tubuh ideal bagi perempuan. Tubuh gemuk dikaitkan dengan masalah kesehatan sehingga perempuan gemuk seperti diharuskan untuk menurunkan berat badannya Penelitian ini berusaha mencari tahu bagaimana usaha perempuan gemuk pelaku hidup sehat dalam mencapai harapan masyarakat untuk memiliki tubuh ideal dan bagaimana hegemoni tersebut dipertukarkan melalui interaksi antara keluarga, masyarakat, dan diri perempuan. Hasil yang didapatkan menunjukkan bahwa hasil interaksi antara keluarga, teman, dan masyarakat yang memberi respons negatif terhadap tubuh gemuk perempuan membuat mereka merasa butuh untuk menurunkan berat badannya. Hegemoni muncul karena pencapaian citra tubuh sehat yang dilakukan tidak cukup. Mass media often featured slim body as body ideal standard for women. Fat body is associated with health problems so obese women required to lose their weight. This study analyzed how healthy-living obese women?s attempt in order to achieve society?s expectations to have the ideal body. This study also analyzed how hegemony is exchanged through interaction within family, society, and the women herself. The results show the result of interaction that exchanged between family, friends and society who gave negative responses to the obese women?s bodies make them feel the need to lose weight. Hegemony plays the role because the accomplishment of having healthy body is not enough for them.
