The discourse of cosmopolitanism and nationalism reflects the tension of the flow of globalization in the process of uniting and separating, in the commitment to facilitating and abrupt cancelation. The paper uses the arguments posed by Charles Taylor to suggest a new alternative to analyze, and to respond to the phenomenon of globalization. The four topics of the discussion are pluralism, autonomy vs. authenticity, neutrality on the part of the state, and authenticity as a new component in liberalism.
