the baduy community has been living according to their ancestor's strich rules in the south part of banten since 600 years ago. although they live not far from modern culture, yet they still maintain their traditional culture. research was done to describe indigenous knowledge of baduy which related to agricultural practice and forest conversation . considering the limited forest area and the fast growing of the population which resulted in severe land degradation, the slash and burn cultivation is not a sustainable practice and can no longer maintain their subsistence . therefore, to preserve their unique culture, some improvement should be adopted for their agricultural practice such as adding organic fertilizer. however, in order to be effectively implemented the decision should be made by the community themselves and should be harmoniously in accordance with their culture.
