Dalam film the Lord of the Rings, dikisahkan mengenai konflik antar pihak protagonis dan antagonis yang terjadi di Middle-Earth. Middle-Earth adalah dunia imajinasi yang dihuni oleh bermacam bangsa yang tinggal di bermacam kota. Salah satu dari kota di Middle-Earth adalah Kota Rivendell, kota yang dihuni oleh bangsa elf. Dengan situasi kondusif dan bentangan alam yang indah, Kota Rivendell berhasil digambarkan sebagai kota yang aman.
