 Abstract

ABSTRAK
Permintaan vanillin yang terus meningkat baik dari industri maupun farmasi, mendorong para peneliti untuk mencari metode sintesis vaniliin yang efektif dan efisien. Pada penelitian ini, dilakukan sintesis vanillin dari bahan isoeugenol dengan metode elektrokimia dengan menggunakan elektroda Pt, Grafit dan Stainless steel. Sebagai studi awal dilakukan penentuan nilai potensial oksidasi dari masing-masing elektroda kerja dengan metode voltametri siklik. Dilanjutkan dengan penentuan kondisi optimum untuk memperoleh % yield yang maksimum. Dengan menggunakan elektroda platina, didapatkan % yield sebesar 34,4 % dari cis- isoeugenol, dan 30,72 % dari trans-isoeugenol. Sedangkan dengan elektroda grafit 10,14 % untuk cis isoeugenol dan 12,4 % untuk trans-isoeugenol. Hasil elektrolisis di karakterisasi dengan instrumen FTIR dan GC-MS. Spektra FTIR menunjukan puncak pada bilangan gelombang sekitar 1700 cm-1 yang menunjukan daerah khas karbonil dan 2 puncak vibrasi C-H khas aldehid pada 2730 cm-1 dan 2860 cm-1 . Sedangkan, hasil MS menunjukkan pola fragmentasi vanilin pada nilai m/z 152, 151,137,109,81,51, dan 15.

ABSTRAK
The increased demand on Vanilla both from industries and pharmaceuticals, encourage researchers to find the effective and efficient methods of synthesis vaniliin. In this study, vanillin was synthesized from isoeugenol by the electrochemical method using Pt , Grafit and Stainless Steel electrodes . A preliminary - study was conducted to obtain the oxidation potential value of each working electrode by cyclic voltametric method. Then, the optimum conditions were determined to obtain the maximum % yield. With the platinum electrode, % yield was obtained from cis-isoeugenol, and 28,69 % from trans-isoeugenol. Meanwhile with the graphite electrodes, 7,21 % yield was obtained from cis isoeugenol and 10,51 % from the trans-isoeugenol. FTIR spectra showed peaks at wave number around 1700 cm-1 which shows a typical area of the carbonyl and two vibration peaks typical aldehyde C-H at 2730 cm -1 and 2860 cm-1. Meanwhile, the results of MS showed the fragmentation pattern of vanillin on the value of m / z 152, 151,137,109,81,51, and 15.
