Skripsi ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh struktur modal (short-term debt, long-term debt, total debt to total assets) terhadap profitabilitas (Return on Equity (ROE)) pada perusahaan non finansial yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia periode 2005-2014. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode Regresi Berganda. Hasil penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa variabel short-term debt, long-term debt, dan total debt to total assetsberpengaruh negatif yang signifikan terhadap ROE. Semakin tinggi tingkat utang perusahaan, maka ROE perusahaan akan semakin menurun pula. Penelitian ini juga menggunakan variabel kontrol yang diukur dengan Size dan Sales Growth.Hasilnya adalah berpengaruh positif yang signifikan terhadap ROE, yaitu semakin tinggi Size dan Sales Growth maka ROE perusahaan juga akan meningkat. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, peneliti menyarankan perusahaan non finansial agar lebih mengutamakan menggunakan ekuitas dibanding dengan penggunaan utang dan penelitian selanjutnya harus menggunakan variabel di luar variabel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of capital structure (short-term debt, long-term debt, total debt to total assets) on profitability (return on equity (ROE)) in non-financial companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange 2005- 2014 period. This study is a quantitative study using multiple regression method. The results of this study stated that the variable short-term debt, long-term debt and total debt to total assets significantly negative effect on ROE. The higher the debt level of the company, the company's ROE will decrease as well. This study also uses control variables as measured by Size and Sales Growth.

The result reveal significantly positive between control variables (Size and Sales Growth) and ROE. Based on these results, the researchers suggest that non-financial companies prefer the use of equity compared with the use of debt and further research should use a variable outside of the variables used in this study.
