Puyu (Anabas testudineus) is a freshwater fish that has tolerance to a wide water quality. Puyu fish has more potential as an economic commodity than any oher freshwater fisj in fry availability an ddificulty to maintain natural prpagation in hatchery. To maintain puyu in natural habitat, culture systems and technology should be a priority. Spawning experiment in laboratory showed that puyu could spawn with artificially techniques. Natural habitats of puyu was relatively acidic environment (pH 4.0 to 6.5) slowly moving water, muddy sediment and densed water plants with thcik fine roots. Artificially spawning through the simulation of male and female using harmones worked well. Washing the eggs before hatching could increase eggs hatching rate from 51,3 to 83,2 percent. Their fecundity of the parent ranged between 536 and 713 eggs per gram parents weight. In the relatively acidic pH conditions (4-6.5) and at constant water temperature (30-32 celcius degree), the survival rate of larvae of 15 days was 49.05 percent.
