The function and role of Indonesian cooperatives were to curtail unemployment, to develop the
sociality industry activities, to increase the community education especially of the cooperative aspect,
and the knowledge of industry. Besides, it also functioned to create the economic democracy. In the
meantime, the impact of cooperatives were welfare of the members.
The purpose of this research was to analyse the effect of the members? motivation, their
participation, human resource manager, entrepreneurship, partnership, competitors, and government
policy simultaneously and partially on the performance Cooperatives of Savings and Loans. The research
also aimed at the analysing the effect of their performance on the Cooperative Effect.
The reseach method took up the survey procedure and statistically used descriptive and
inferential modes. To test the hypotheses, the research applied statistical analysis of multiple linear
regression as well as simple linear regression. The research employed primary and secondary data.
Primary data were collected with questionnaires designed with the Likert scale. Whereas, the secondary
data were collected in terms of the cooperative development from 2005 to 2009. Specifically, the
cooperatives under studied was of the Savings and Loans category in DKI Jakarta Province.
The result of research indicated that simultaneously the members? motivation, their participation,
human resource manager, entrepreneurship, partnership, competitors and governmental policy affected
significantly on the performance of Cooperative of Savings and Loans. Partially, the members?
motivation, their participation, human resource manager, entrepreneurship, partnership, competitors
and the government policy affected signifcantly to the performance of Cooperative of Savings and Loans.
In addition, the performance cooperatives significantly affected on their Cooperative Effect.
Findings of the research suggested that the government improve their roles to nurture the
development of cooperatives. Meanwhile, the cooperatives also suggested to increase their performance because the key factors of succeding the Cooperative Effect was their performance.
