Industri Tekstil dan Produk Tekstil (TPT) mempunyai karakteristik spasial yang sangat menarik dibandingkan dengan industri lainnya. Hal ini disebabkan sebagian besar industri TPT berlokasi di pulau Jawa sehingga terdapat indikasi atau dugaan bahwa industri TPT beraglomerasi di Pulau Jawa. Namun, berdasarkan produktifitas, industri TPT menempati posisi jauh dibawah rata-rata produktifitas industri manufaktu lainnya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui adakah hubungan antara aglomerasi industri TPT dengan produktifitas industri TPT dan meneliti sumber produktifitas. Selain itu daerah mana saja yang mempunyai konsentrasi spasial dan produktifitas yang tinggi Aglomerasi diproksi dengan Indeks Entropi yakni konsep teori informasi yang mengukur kesenjangan ekonomi dan konsentrasi industri. Metode yang digunakan dalam menghitung produktifitas adalah Total Factor Productifity. Sedangkan untuk mengetahui apakah aglomerasi berpengaruh terhadap produktifitas digunakan model data panel fixed effect. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa produktifitas industri TPT selama tahun 2008-2012 mengalami peningkatan ratarata sebesar 18% dimana peningkatan technical change merupakan kontributor utama dari perubahan produktifitas industri TPT di Indonesia. Sementara, aglomerasi menunjukkan pengaruh yang positif dan signifikan terhadap produktifitas industri TPT, hal ini menandakan adanya manfaat yang didapat industri dari penghematan-penghematan akibat aglomerasi. Selain itu, variabel dummy interaksi aglomerasi dengan regional menunjukkan bahwa aglomerasi industri di pulau Jawa berpengaruh positif dan signifikan.

Textile and Textile Product Industry (TPT?s Industry) has a very interesting spatial characteristics compared with other industries. This is due to mostly TPT?s Industry were located in Java so that there is an indication that the industry has agglomerated in Java. However, based on productivity, this industry has a low productivity compared to other industries. The purposes of this research are to analyze the relationship between productivity and agglomeration in TPT?s Industry. Further more this paper will analyze the sources of productivity and which regions have high concentrated with high productivity. Agglomeration is proxied with Entrophy Index, an index with the information theory concept that measured economic disparity and industrial concentration. The method used in analizing productivity is Total Factor Productivity, while fixed effect model were used in analizing effect the agglomeration on productivity. The results showed that the productivity of the Textile and Textile Product Industry during the year 2008-2012 has increased by an average of 18% with an increase of technical change (TC) as a major contributor to the change in the productivity. Meanwhile, the agglomeration showed a positive and significant impact on the productivity of the Textile and Textile Product Industry. It indicates the existence of the benefits of the savings industry due to agglomeration. Dummy variable aglomeration and regional shows that aglomeration in Java island has a positive and significant effect on productivity.
