Pelayanan KB di Indonesia masih tetap mengacu pada sistim kafetaria yang memberi keleluasaan kepada para peserta KB untuk memilih jenis alat kontrasepsi sesuai dengan keinginan masing-masing peserta. Menurut SDKI 2007, pemakaian metode kontrasepsi suntik memperlihatkan kecenderungan peningkatan, sebaliknya pemakaian metode kontrasepsi pil dan IUD cenderung menurun dari waktu kewaktu. Pemakaian metode IUD tahun 1991 sebesar 13,3%, 1994 menjadi 10,3%, 1997 menjadi 8,1%, 2003 menjadi 6,2% dan 2007 hanya 4,9%. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik ibu yang menggunakan kontrasepsi IUD, dengan desain cross sectional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh akseptor KB yang ada di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Alai Ilir Kecamatan Rimbo Ilir Kabupaten Tebo Propinsi Jambi dengan jumlah sampel 210 responden. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode wawancara langsung terhadap responden dengan menggunakan kuesioner. Variabel penelitian ini adalah usia, pengetahuan, pendidikan, pekerjaan, biaya pelayanan, jumlah anak, dukungan suami dan sikap ibu terhadap penggunaan kontrasepsi IUD. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proporsi responden yang menggunakan KB Non IUD sebesar 91% dan KB IUD hanya 9%. Ada perbedaan proporsi antara umur ibu, jumlah anak (paritas), biaya Pelayanan, pengetahuan dan sikap ibu terhadap penggunaan kontrasepsi IUD. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian disarankan agar Dinas terkait meningkatkan sosialisasi tentang kontrasepsi IUD sehingga dapat mengurangi sikap negatif yang ada dimasyarakat, meningkatkan kerja sama lintas sektoral dalam upaya peningkatan pencapaian akseptor KB IUD serta meningkatkan keterampilan petugas agar dapat memberikan pelayanan sesuai dengan standar.

Family planning services in Indonesia are still referring to cafeteria system which gives flexibility the planning participants to choose the type of contraceptives devices in accordance with the wishes of each participant. According to the Demographic and Health Survey 2007, the use of injectable contraceptive methods showed an increasing trend, whereas the use of pills and IUDs tended to decline over time. Use of the IUD method in 1991 at 13.3%, 1994 to 10.3%, 1997 to 8.1%, to 6.2% in 2003 and 2007 only 4.9%.

This study aims to determine the characteristic of women who uses contraceptive IUD, with cross sectional design. The population in this study were all of KB acceptors in working area of Health Center Alai Ilir Rimbo Ilir Subdistrict Regency of Tebo Jambi Province with a sample size of 210 respondents. The data was collected by direct interview method to respondents using questionnaire. The variables of this study are age, knowledge, education, employment, cost of service, number of children, support her husband and mother's attitudes toward contraceptive use IUDs.

The result showed that the proportion of respondents who use family planning Non IUD for 91% and KB IUDs only 9%. There is a difference between the proportion of maternal age, number of children (parity), the cost of service, knowledge and attitudes towards the use of contraceptive IUD's mother. Based on the research result suggested that the Departement-related increase socialization of IUD contraception in order to reduce the negative attitudes that exist in the community, enhance cross-sectoral cooperation in improving the achievement of family planning acceptor of IUD and to improve the skill of officers in order to provide services in accordance with the standards.
