Skripsi ini membahas mengenai sufiks -teki sebagai hedge (pagar) dalam cuitan (tweet) yang diposting dalam situs jejaring sosial Twitter pada bulan Oktober 2016. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memerikan sufiks -teki sebagai hedge (pagar). Dengan memerikan sufiks -teki sebagai hedge (pagar), dapat diketahui penggunaan dan fungsi sufiks -teki sebagai hedge (pagar). Selain itu, dapat diketahui sikap pencuit yang menggunakan sufiks -teki dalam cuitannya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa berdasarkan 21 data yang dianalisis, penggunaan sufiks -teki sebagai hedge (pagar) dapat dikelompokkan berdasarkan posisi, yaitu penggunaan sufiks -teki pada pronomina persona pertama, sufiks -teki pada kuotasi, dan sufiks -teki (na) pada modifikator nomina. Sufiks -teki berfungsi untuk menghaluskan ujaran. Hal ini dipicu oleh sikap pencuit yang berupaya untuk menghindari konflik dengan pembaca cuitan.

The focus of this study is the use of the suffix -teki as a hedge found on tweets posted on October 2016 on the social media site Twitter. The purpose of this research is to describe the suffix -teki as hedge. By describing the suffix -teki as hedge, the use of suffix -teki as hedge and its functions will be discovered. Moreover, the tweeter (the person who tweeted) attitude toward their tweets will be found out. Based on the 21 tweets analyzed, the suffix -teki used as hedges can be divided into three groups based on its position in the sentence, which are the use of the suffix -teki after first person pronouns, suffix -teki after quotation, and suffix -teki (na) after noun modifier. The use of the suffix -teki as a hedge implies that the tweeter (the person who tweeted) weakens the assertion of the speech. The use of the suffix -teki as a hedge is motivated by the attitude of tweeter who attempted to avoid conflicts with the readers.
