Perilaku mahasiswa yang merokok merupakan suatu masalah yang nyata di kantin Fakultas Psikologi Universitas Indonesia. Intervensi berupa spanduk larangan merokok belum bisa menghilangkan perilaku merokok yang terjadi di kantin Fakultas Psikologi. Kondisi ini jelas menimbulkan masalah lain karena dampak yang ditimbulkannya terhadap para perokok pasif, udara yang tercemar, dll. Perilaku bermasalah dapat terjadi karena adanya mispersepsi antara actual norms dengan perceived norms. Actual norms merupakan representasi sikap atau perilaku individu yang sebenarnya, sedangkan perceived norms adalah persepsi terhadap representasi sikap atau perilaku orang lain di sekitarnya. Norma sosial terbagi menjadi dua jenis norma yaitu injunctive norms dan descriptive norms. Injunctive norms adalah persetujuan orang lain terhadap suatu perilaku, sedangkan descriptive norms merupakan representasi perilaku individu dalam kelompok. Berdasarkan temuan studi baseline, ditemukan terjadi mispersepsi pada aspek descriptive norms. Intervensi dilakukan dengan memasang spanduk di kantin Fakultas Psikologi yang berisi descriptive norms messages, yaitu sebuah pesan yang berisi informasi tentang jumlah sebenarnya dari orang yang tidak merokok maupun orang yang merokok. Penelitian intervensi menggunakan disain quasy experiment one group pre-post test. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat penurunan secara signifikan skor mispersepsi dengan p value < 0.05 pada aspek descriptive norms. Namun perilaku merokok mahasiswa tidak menurun secara signifikan p value > 0.05. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan intervensi norma sosial ini berhasil mengurangi mispersepsi pada aspek descriptive norms namun belum mampu mengurangi jumlah mahasiswa yang merokok.

The behavior of students who smoke is a real problem in the cafeteria of the Faculty of Psychology, University Indonesia. Intervention in the form of banners smoking ban has not been able to eliminate the smoking behavior that occurs in the cafeteria of the Faculty of Psychology. This situation clearly raises other problems because of their impact on passive smokers, polluted air, etc. Behavioral problems can occur because of the misperception between the actual norms with perceived norms. Actual norms is actual representation of individual attitude and behavior, while perceived norms is the perception of attitude and behavior of others in the vicinity . Social norms are divided into two types of norms that injunctive and descriptive norms. Injunctive norms is the approval of others to a behavior, while descriptive norms is a representation of the behavior of individuals in the group. Based on the findings of the baseline study, found a misperception on the aspect of descriptive norms.

The intervention is done by putting up banners in the cafeteria of the Faculty of Psychology, which contains descriptive norms messages, which is a message that contains information about the actual number of people who do not smoke and those who smoke. Interventions research using quasy experimental design one group pre post test. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant reduction in scores misperception with p value 0.05 on aspects of descriptive norms. However, the smoking behavior of students not decrease significantly with p value 0.05. The conclusion of this study indicate social norms intervention is successful decreasing misperception on the aspect of descriptive norms but have not been able to decreasing the number of students who smoke.
