ABSTRAKJurnal ini membahas sebuah lukisan karya pelukis Belanda abad 17 Gerard ter Borch.Ia terkenal dengan lukisanpotret dan lukisan konversasi. Salah satu darilukisan konversasi miliknya adalahGalante Conversatie 1654 . Berdasarkan komposisi, simbol warna, dan juga subyek-subyek dalam lukisan, rumah bordil kelas bawah terbukti sebagaitema dan latar dalam lukisannya. Pembahasan tulisan ini menggunakan pendekatan cultural studies khususnya teorirepresentasi. Teori semiotik digunakan untuk memaknai simbol-simbol, komposisi, warna dan bentuk dalam lukisan Galante Conversatie.Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memaparkan simbol warna dan membuktikan makna dalam latar lukisan sebagai representasi rumah bordil pada lukisan Galante Conversatie. ABSTRACTRepresentation of a Brothel Scene in The Galante Conversatie by Gerard ter Borch 1654 AbstractThis journal discusses a painting by 17th century Dutch painter, Gerard ter Borch. He is famous for his portraits and his conversation pieces. One of his works is Galante Conversatie.Based on the composition, symbol of color and the subjects in this painting, it has a background scene of a brothel for the lower class. Representation theory in combination with cultural studies approach will be used for this study. Semiotic theory will be used too for analyzing symbols, color, and composition of the painting.. The purpose of this study is to describe the color symbol and related subjects. Also to prove the meaning of the background scene as a representation of a brothel scene.
