ABSTRAKPenelitian ini membahas ciri-ciri fantastik dalam sebuah teks sastra. Cerita fantastik ditegaskan dengan keraguan yang dialami oleh tokoh dalam cerita dan pembaca cerita. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menunjukkan ciri-ciri fantastik yang terdapat di dalam cerpen ?La Morte? karya Guy de Maupassant dengan menggunakan ancangan struktural dengan teori dari Roland Barthes dan Tzvetan Todorov. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa ciri-ciri fantastik dapat dilihat dari beberapa unsur instrinsik cerpen yaitu, alur cerita yang menampilkan peristiwa natural dan supranatural yang menimbulkan keraguan pada tokoh dan pembaca, tokoh yang mempertanyakan peristiwa aneh, kemunculan tokoh supranatural seperti tengkorak, penggunaan latar ruang dan waktu dalam cerpen yang menunjukkan kesan suram dan terpencil, penggunaan sudut pandang ambigu yang mengungkapkan peristiwa hanya sebatas apa yang diketahui oleh penutur, serta banyaknya diksi dan ungkapan yang menimbulkan kesan fantastik.ABSTRACTThis research discusses the fantastic elements in a literary text. Fantastic story is confirmed by doubts experienced by the characters in the story and the reader. This research aims to demonstrate the fantastic elements contained in the short story "La Morte" by Guy de Maupassant using structural approach with theories of Roland Barthes and Tzvetan Todorov. The analysis showed that the fantastic elements can be seen by the intrinsic substances of the short story, such as the story line featuring the natural and supernatural events that cause doubt on the characters and the reader, character who questioned bizarre events, the appearance of supernatural character like the skull, the space and time background of the story that show the impression of bleak and desolate, the ambiguous point of view that reveals the events are limited only to what is known by the speaker and many dictions that give the fantastic impression.
