ABSTRAKKarya Ilmiah ini akan mencoba menjelaskan fenomena dikomunitas online bernama Reddit, dimana beberapa Subreddit yang dianggap membuat konten cyberbullying diblokir oleh Reddit. Fenomena tersebut cukup kontroversial mengingat Reddit sangat mengedepankan kebebasan berpendapat. Keputusan untuk memblokir beberapa subreddit yang memiliki konten cyberbullying juga dianggap tidak adil karena masih ada beberapa subreddit lain yang memiliki konten serupa yang masih bias diakses oleh pengguna Reddit. Pemblokiran tersebut berujung kepada penegakan peraturan baru yang diharapkan mampu mencegah konten serupa untuk berada di Reddit. Karya ilmiah ini akan mencoba untuk menelaah masalah ini melalui survey publik, pendapat ahli psikologi terhadap cyberbullying di Reddit, dan analisis tematik dari Reddit sendiri.

ABSTRACTThis paper will try to explain a recent phenomenon in the online community, Reddit, where a number of subreddits are banned under allegations of cyberbullying. This phenomenon is rather odd, as Reddit is known as a place where people can discuss anything. The decision also raised controversy as there are still other subreddits that are similar to the one being banned, but is still online. The banning led to new rules within the site which tries to eliminate cyberbullying. This paper will try to look and explain the issue by gathering opinions from the public, psychology experts, and a thematic analysis of Reddit itself.
