ABSTRAKTerorisme menjadi komoditas yang berharga bagi media massa karena mengandung banyak nilai berita yang berkaitan erat dengan keberlangsungan hidup orang banyak. Di Indonesia, aksi terorisme hingga saat ini masih menjadi ancaman yang meresahkan masyarakat. Media massa yang diharapkan dapat menjadi salah satu alat untuk memerangi terorisme dituntut untuk bekerja secara profesional dalam meliput aksi terorisme. Kenyataanya, terorisme tidak sesederhana itu. Dibutuhkan pengalaman dan pemahaman yang baik terhadap pedoman jurnalisme dalam meliput insiden terorisme agar jurnalis dapat menyampaikan berita yang baik untuk masyarakat. Pedoman jurnalisme tersebut meliputi Pedoman Perilaku Penyiaran dan Standar Program Siaran (P3/SPS), Kode Etik Jurnalisme, dan pedoman peliputan terorisme yang dikeluarkan oleh Dewan Pers. Diskusi untuk menyamakan pemikiran, mengadakan simulasi reguler tentang peliputan terorisme, dan memperkaya bank data pribadi menjadi cara yang dapat dilakukan agar profesionalisme jurnalis dalam meliput insiden terorisme tetap terjaga sehingga dapat memenuhi kebutuhan informasi masyarakat dengan baik.
ABSTRACTTerrorism becomes a commodity that is valuable for the mass media because they contain much news value that is closely related to the survival of many people. In Indonesia, terrorism is still a threat plaguing the society. The media which is expected to be one of the tools to against terrorism are required to work professionally in reporting acts of terrorism. In fact, terrorism is not that simple. It takes experience and a good understanding of the guidelines of journalism in reporting terrorist incidents in order to deliver good news to public. The journalism guidelines include the Code of Conduct of Broadcasters and Broadcast Program Standards (P3/SPS), the Code of Conduct of Journalism, and terrorism reporting guidelines issued by the Press Council. Discussions to equalize the thoughts, held regular simulation of terrorism reporting, and ensuring personal data bank be the best way to do so that the professionalism of journalists in reporting terrorist incidents is maintained so as to satisfy the information needs of the public well.
