Strategi divestasi dapat menambah nilai perusahaan, dimana riset membuktikan bahwa divestasi dapat meningkatkan shareholder returns sekaligus kinerja operasi perusahaan. Dalam penelitian ini penulis menggali dan mempertajam dampak aktivitas divestasi perusahaan-perusahaan terbuka sektor minyak dan gas bumi secara global terhadap shareholder returns abnormal return melalui event study dengan Characteritsic Based Benchmark Model CBBM sebagai model perhitungan abnormal return. Tujuan utama penelitian ini adalah membuktikan bahwa dengan melakukan divestasi dapat meningkatkan nilai perusahaan minyak dan gas bumi secara global dan menganalisa karakter Perusahaan dan/atau aset yang didivestasi dalam kaitannya dengan shareholder value Perusahaan. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa divestasi pada perusahaan minyak dan gas bumi meningkatkan nilai perusahaan, ditunjukkan dengan reaksi positif pasar abnormal return positif pada saat pengumuman dan reaksi positif yang signifikan 7 tujuh hari sebelum pengumuman divestasi. Secara umum pasar bereaksi lebih positif apabila Perusahaan dengan peer type Diversified melakukan pengumuman divestasi. Dan hanya pengumuman divestasi di jenis aset Oilfield Equipment Services yang secara konsiten mendapatkan reaksi positif dibandingkan jenis aset lainnya. Pengumuman Divestasi oleh Perusahaan berukuran sedang cenderung merupakan informasi positif, merupakan informasi negatif apabila dilakukan oleh Perusahaan kecil, dan cenderung netral atau positif untuk Perusahaan besar.

Recent research proved that divestiture creates company rsquo s shareholder value in general. This particular research is aimed to analyze and examine effects of divestiture announcements of public companies in Integrated and or Diversified Oil Gas Industry ldquo the Companies rdquo on shareholder returns abnormal return by conducting event study. In this research Characteristic Based Benchmark Model CBBM will be used to calculate abnormal return.

Main goals of this research are to prove whether divestiture can create values for the Companies and to analyze and understand correlation between characteristics of divested companies and or assets with the shareholder values.

This research shows that divestiture of the Companies can create value in terms of positive cumulative abnormal return at the announcement date and significantly positive cumulative abnormal return 7 seven days prior to announcement date. Generally market will react positively when the Companies rsquo type is Diversified. And market will show consistent positive reaction when the divested assets are in Oilfield Equipment Services industry. Divestiture announcements of medium Companies are categorized as positive information for market, but it is negative for small Companies. While big Companies rsquo announcements are tend to be neutral or positive information for market.
