Stoma membawa dampak perubahan kualitas hidup pasien. Diperlukan persiapan yang tepat sebelum operasi untuk menyiapkan pasien beradaptasi. Penelitian bertujuan mengeksplorasi pengalaman ostomate terhadap perawat pada persiapan pembedahan stoma. Desain kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi melibatkan 7 ostomate yang memenuhi kriteria penelitian. Wawancara mendalam dilakukan dengan analisa metode Collaizi. Hasilnya terdapat 5 tema: 1 Menjalani operasi stoma atas support dokter keluarga; 2 Menjalani persiapan rutin sebelum operasi dari perawat; 3 Kurang interaksi secara interpersonal dengan perawat; 4 Kurang mendapatkan informasi spesifik stoma dari perawat; 5 Keinginan mendapatkan perawatan dari perawat khusus stoma sebelum operasi dilakukan. Kesimpulan, perawatan preoperative stoma belum meliputi seluruh aspek seperti edukasi, dukungan fisik psikologis yang diberikan oleh perawat dengan kompetensi khusus yaitu enterostomal therapy nurses. Saran, Dalam memberikan layanan preoperative, Perawat harus melakukan asuhan keperawatan preoperative stoma dengan menggunakan komunikasi efektif keterampilan perawatan stoma terstandar.
