Pengurangan hambatan di dalam pipa dengan menggunakan biopolymer ekstrak rumput laut = Drag reduction in pipeline with using biopolymer seaweed extract

 Abstract

Dalam sistem perpipaan, energi yang digunakan dalam pentransportasian fluida terdapat kerugian yang disebabkan oleh adanya friksi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek ekstrak rumput laut dalam pengurangan friksi di dalam pipa. Variasi konsentrasi ekstrak rumput laut yang digunakan sebesar 100 ppm hingga 400 ppm. Metode pencampuran yang digunakan secara mechanical steering dengan perbedaan waktu pencampuran yaitu 15 menit dan 60 menit. Terdapat 3 pipa yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu 2 pipa geometri bulat dengan diameter yang berbeda dan 1 pipa geometri spiral. Penelitian ini menghasilkan pengurangan hambatan terbesar sebesar 34,15 di pipa spiral pada konsentrasi 400 ppm 60 menit.

In piping system, the energy was used for transport the fluid have a losses caused by friction. This study was conducted to determine the effect of seaweed extract that where used for reducing friction in pipeline. Concentration variations of seaweed extract was used about 100 ppm until 400 ppm. Mechanical steering was used as mixing method with differences in mixing time about 15 minutes and 60 minutes. There are 3 pipes that used in this study, 2 circular pipe with different diameter and 1 spiral pipe. This study conducted the result in maximum drag reduction is about 34,15 in spiral pipe with concentration variation of 400 ppm 60 minutes.
