Angka kematian ibu yang tinggi di Indonesia sebesar 359 per 100.000 kelahiran hidup pada tahun 2012. Salah satu penyebab kematian ibu ialah perdarahan, yang sebenarnya perdarahan bisa diatasi jika istri melahirkan di fasilitas kesehatan, dengan penolong persalinan yang tepat yaitu tenaga kesehatan. Di Indonesia suami adalah orang yang berpengaruh terhadap pengambilan keputusan dalam rumah tangga. Disini peneliti ingin mengetahui apakah suami pernah berdiskusi mengenai persiapan persalinan istrinya seperti transportasi apa yang akan digunakan, dimana akan melakukan persalinan, berapa biaya yang akan dibutuhkan, siapa yang akan menolong serta siapa pendonor darah jika diperlukan. Sehingga peneliti ingin melihat faktor apa saja yang mempengaruhi pengetahuan dan sikap suami dalam persiapan persalinan. Design penelitian ini cross sectional, dimana samplenya ialah pria yang sudah menikah pada data SDKI 2012. Adapun variabel yang akan di hubungkan dengan pengetahuan dan sikap suami dalam persiapan persalinan ialah; usia, pendidikan, jumlah anak, paparan tenaga kesehatan dan paparan media massa, status kerja, tempat tinggal. Hasil penelitian ini didapatkan hubungan pendidikan terhadap pengetahuan OR=1,894 dan paparan media massa OR=1,960. Variabel yang mempengaruhi sikap pendidikan dengan OR= 1,564, paparan tenaga kesehatan OR= 2,801, media massa OR=2,168 dan tempat tinggal OR= 2,432. Maka variabel yang mempengaruhi pengetahuan suami ialah pendidikan dan paparan media massa dan variabel yang mempengaruhi sikap suami ialah pendidikan, paparan tenaga kesehatan, media massa dan tempat tinggal.

The high maternal mortality rate in Indonesia amounts to 359 per 100,000 live births in 2012. One of the causes of maternal death is bleeding, which actually bleeding can be overcome if the wife gives birth at health facility, with the right birth attendant that is the health worker. In Indonesia, the husband is the person who influences the decision in the household.

Here the researcher wants to know whether the husband has discussed about the preparation of his wife's birth as what kind of transportation will be used, where will do the delivery, how much will be the cost needed, who will help and who the blood donor if needed. So researchers want to see what factors affect the knowledge and attitudes of the husband in birth preparedness.

This research design is cross sectional, where the sample is married man in data of SDKI 2012. The variables that will be associated with knowledge and attitude of husband in birth preparedness Age, education, number of children, exposure of health workers and exposure to mass media, work status, residence.

The results of this study obtained the relationship of education to knowledge OR 1.894 and exposure to mass media OR 1,960. Variables that influence the attitude of education with OR 1,564, exposure of health workers OR 2,801, mass media OR 2,168 and residence OR 2,432. So the variables associated with husband knowledge is education and exposure to mass media. The variables that associated the husband's attitude are education, exposure to health workers, mass media and residence.
