ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini merupakan analisis perbandingan karakterisasi dan ideologi antara Thomas Jefferson dan Alexander Hamilton dalam lsquo;Hamilton: An American Musical rsquo; sebagai analisis wacana musikal teater menggunakan pendekatan semantik Penelitian ini menggunakan teori penilaian dari Systemic Functional Linguistic SFL , yang berfungsi untuk mengidentifikasi makna sebagaimana pengaruhnya terhadap orang yang dituju. Teori ini diterapkan ke dalam dialog rap battle mereka dalam lsquo;Cabinet Battle 1 rsquo; untuk mempelajari dinamika persaingan antara kedua karakter dalam konteks sejarah dan linguistik yang sesuai. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan hubungan dekat antara karakterisasi dan konflik kepentingan yang tidak hanya diperlihatkan dalam dialog, namun juga dalam karakterisasi dari Jefferson dan Hamilton.

ABSTRACT
This research aims to find the comparison of characterization and ideology between Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton in 39 Hamilton An American Musical rsquo as an analysis of music theatrical discourse of a historical adaptation using a semantic approach. The research is conducted using the appraisal theory from the Systemic Functional Linguistic SFL , which identifies meaning as it affects its addressee. The theory is applied onto Jefferson and Hamilton rsquo s rap battle verses in lsquo Cabinet Battle 1 rsquo in order to study the dynamics of rivalry between the two characters in the text within the appropriate linguistic and historical context. The result of this research finds a close association between the characterization and their conflict of interest. The discussion indicates that the conflict of interest is not only represented in the verses, but also in the characters itself, thus illustrating the multilayered portrayal of archrivals in Jefferson and Hamilton rsquo s character.
