ABSTRAKKegiatan pengelasan bawah air sebagian besar dilakukan pada kondisi darurat. Elektroda asli yang digunakan untuk pengelasan bawah air sulit untuk ditemukan di pasaran, karena sifat penggunaannya yang khusus. Hal ini juga berakibat pada tingginya harga elektroda khusus tersebut. Penelitian ini mempelajari kemungkinan digunakannya elektroda komersial E6013 dan E7024 berbasis rutile yang dilaminasi sebagai pengganti elektroda khusus bawah air Broco UW CS-1 yang berbasis rutile E7014. Hasil uji mekanis menunjukan bahwa elektroda komersial E6013 yang dilaminasi menghasilkan sifat mekanik yang paling optimum sebagai pengganti elektroda asli Broco UW CS-1 (E7014).

ABSTRACTUnderwater welding activities are mostly done in emergency situations. The original electrode used for underwater welding is difficult to find on the market, due to its specific usage properties. This also results in the high price of the special electrode. This study examines the possibility of using a laminated commercial rutile based electrode E6013 and E7024 in subtituting of the rutile E7014-based Broco UW CS-1 special underwater electrode. The mechanical properties test results show that the laminated E6013 commercial electrode produces the most optimum mechanical properties in subtituting of the original Broco UW CS-1 (E7014) electrode.
