Notaris dalam menjalankan Jabatannya tidak lepas dari pengawasan yang dilakukan oleh Majelis Pengawas Notaris. hal ini juga termasuk dalam hal pemberian sanksi bagi Notaris yang melakukan pelanggaran terhadap Kode Etik Notaris dan/atau Undang-Undang Jabatan Notaris, sehingga dalam tesis ini juga meninjau beberapa putusan Majelis Pengawas Wilayah Notaris DKI Jakarta mengenai pemberian sanksi dalam bentuk sanksi teguran. Permasalahan yang diangkat dalam tesis ini yaitu bagaimana efektifitas putusan Majelis Pengawas Notaris yang berupa sanksi teguran terhadap Notaris yang melakukan suatu pelanggaran dan bagaimanakah pengawasan terhadap Notaris dalam menjalankan sanksi yang diterimanya berdasarkan hasil putusan Majelis Pengawas Notaris. Penulisan ini menggunakan metode penelitian yuridis normatif yang mengacu pada norma-norma hukum dengan studi kepustakaan dengan cara meneliti serta menganalisa bahan-bahan pustaka dibidang hukum. Kesimpulan dalam penelitian ini adalah bahwa sanksi teguran yang dijatuhkan oleh Majelis Pengawas Notaris, baik lisan maupun tertulis, dianggap kurang efektif, karena sanksi teguran tidak memberikan dampak langsung serta dianggap tidak memberikan efek jera bagi Notaris, dan pengawasan yang dilakukan oleh Majelis Pengawas Wilayah Notaris terhadap Notaris dalam menjalankan sanksi yang diterimanya tersebut dilakukan oleh Majelis Pengawas Daerah Notaris Kota/Kabupaten yang diberikan wewenang berdasarkan Putusan Majelis Pengawas Wilayah Provinsi.
