ABSTRACT
Ruang transit yang ditujukan untuk mengakomodasi banyak orang seringkali dimaknai hanya sebatas fungsi tanpa memikirkan pengalaman ruang dan dampak psikologis terhadap penghuninya, sehingga individu tidak memiliki relasi/memori tertentu terhadap ruang transit tersebut. Padahal, elemen-elemen pembentuk ruang tersebut saling terkoneksi dan membentuk dialog ruang yang berperan menyukseskan penyampaian pesan ruang kepada individu tidak hanya sebagai perantara namun juga pembentuk atmosfer ruang. Sehingga proses transit menjadi humanis. Ruang transit penting sebagai ruang interaksi yang mengakomodasi beragam aktivitas. Untuk memungkinkan hal ini terjadi, masyarakat sebagai subjek aktivitas ini menjadi sakral untuk diperhatikan. Hal ini tidak lain adalah untuk membangun koneksi antara ruang transit dan pengguna ruang transit dengan menciptakan pengalaman menunggu yang akan melekat pada memori mereka. Di dalam lingkup ruang transit, terdapat elemen-elemen transisi yang berperan sebagai pemisah ruang yang menegaskan batas-batas antara ruang yang dialami oleh pejalan kaki dalam konteks jalan dan kota streetscape, dengan interior ruang transit yang melingkupi segala aktivitas di dalamnya. Namun di sisi lain, elemen-elemen transisi ini juga berperan sebagai penguat relasi antara inside dan outside dari ruang transit itu sendiri. Salah satu dari elemen-elemen tersebut, adalah Threshold. Pada fasilitas transit, threshold menjadi elemen utama yang mendukung fungsinya sebagai ruang transisi dan mengkoreografi pegalaman ruang. Namun demikian, ia juga memiliki potensi sebagai pembentuk relasi dengan ruang di sekitarnya, misalnya antara interior-eksterior dan juga dengan ruang kota. Sehingga, pada hubungannya dengan ruang kota, threshold memiliki peran penting sebagai elemen yang menjalin konektivitas antara fasilitas transit dengan konteks kota di sekitarnya yang dapat pembentuk pengalaman manusia dan memicu hadirnya aktivitas publik yang beragam. Riset ini bertujuan untuk menelaah ruang threshold pada konteks ruang transit, melihat sistem hubungan, potensi serta kemungkinan yang tercipta dari relasi antara ruang transit dan ruang kota. Skripsi ini memberikan interpretasi baru pada threshold sebagai ruang antara yang kerap kali tidak terbahas potensinya dalam wacana ruang publik. Penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode kajian literatur, studi preseden dan observasi lapangan.

ABSTRACT
Transit spaces which are intended to accommodate many people, are often interpreted only as functional without considering the experience of space and its psychological impact on the inhabitants, so that individuals do not have a certain relation memory of the transit space. In fact, the spatial elements that are connected to one another and to its environment of the transit space can form a dialogue of space that plays a major role in the successful delivery of message and meaning to individuals. Hence these element serve not only as an intermediary but also in the creation of the atmosphere within. This is when the transit process becomes humane. The importance of the transit space is to accommodates interaction for the community it surrounds, a place that accommodates diverse activities. To allow this to happen, society as the subject of this activity becomes sacred to be noticed. This is done to establish a connection between that transit space and its users by creating a meaningful waiting experience that will be attached to their memory. Within the sphere of transit space, there are transitional elements that act as space dividers that define the boundaries between the space experienced by pedestrians mdash in the context of the road and the city streetscape mdash and with the interior of the transit spaces encompassing all the activities within them. But on the other hand, these transitional elements also act as a reinforcing relation between the inside and outside of the transit space itself. One of these elements, is Threshold. Threshold is a choreographer of spatial experience, as an element that embodies the transition, because it separates and connects boundaries, and regulates space sequences. Threshold can also be interpreted as the in between condition of interior and exterior and has the characteristics of both, so that there can be ambiguity on the quality of space.in the other hands, it also has the potential to create relation to its surrounding. For example, relation between interior exterior and the urban environment. For that reason, threshold has a key role to create connectivity between transit facilities and urban environment and generate individuals spatial experience and activities. This research aims to examine threshold spaces in the context of transit space, to see the relationship of its system, its potential and possibilities created from the relationship between transit space and cityscape. This study provides a new interpretation of the threshold as the space in between which its potential often not discussed in public space discourse. Qualitative research is conducted through literature review, precedent study and field observation.
