Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti peningkatan keterampilan menyimak dengan menggunakan media video sebagai media ajar dalam pembelajaran keterampilan menyimak. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas action research yang menggunakan metode campuran mixed methods dalam analisis data-datanya. Data yang diperoleh berupa data kualitatif dan data kuantitatif. Data kualitatif diperoleh dari hasil catatan lapangan peneliti, observasi, wawancara dengan siswa-siswa, dan diskusi dengan rekan guru. Data kuantitatif diperoleh dari tugas-tugas yang diberikan di setiap siklus, tes evaluasi di setiap akhir fase, tes awal pre-test di awal sebelum pelaksanaan penelitian tindakan kelas, dan tes akhir post-test di akhir pelaksanaan tindakan kelas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan video sebagai media ajar dalam pembelajaran keterampilan menyimak dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menyimak siswa-siswa kelas X terlihat dari hasil nilai tes akhir post-test yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan hasil nilai tes awal pre-test . Selain itu, hasil kuesioner dan wawancara menunjukkan bahwa siswa-siswa memiliki persepsi yang positif terhadap penggunaan media video dalam pembelajaran keterampilan menyimak.

This research was aimed to investigate the improvement of students rsquo listening skills using video as learning tool in the teaching of listening. This research was an action research that used mixed methods in analyzing its data. The data obtained were qualitative and quantitative. The qualitative data were gained from the observations, interviews with the students, and discussion with the collaborator. Meanwhile, the quantitative data were gained from the tasks that were given in every cycle, evaluation test in the end of every phase, pre test that was conducted in the beginning of implementation of action research, and post test that was conducted in the end of implementation of action research.

The results of the research showed that the use of video as learning tool in the teaching of listening skill could increase the listening skills of students grade X that was shown through post test that was higher compared to pre test. In addition, the results of questionnaire and interviews showed that students had positive perception toward the use of video in the teaching of listening skill.
