ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuktikan rekonstruksi citra Tuhan dalam film The Shack 2017 . Analisis akan menafsirkan representasi karakter dan adegan tertentu yang digambarkan dalam film. Korpus artikel ini adalah film berjudul The Shack, yang mewakili Tuhan dalam Nasrani yang direifikasi dalam tiga ras yang berbeda. Wacana masalah rasial dalam teori postkolonial sebagian besar digunakan sebagai instrumen untuk memahami konteks dalam menafsirkan. Artikel ini memilih untuk mengeksplorasi film daripada versi novel untuk mendapatkan analisis yang lebih holistik, dengan penambahan fitur sinematografi di samping aspek intrinsik dari narasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa gambar Tuhan dipersonifikasikan dan direkonstruksi menjadi ras non-kulit putih untuk menantang isu rasial dan mematahkan wacana kekuasaan antara kulit putih, Afrika Amerika, Timur Tengah, dan Asia-Amerika.

ABSTRACTThis study aims to prove the reconstruction of God image in the movie The Shack 2017 . The analysis will interpret the representation of certain characters and scenes portrayed in the movie. The corpus of this article is movie titled The Shack, which represents the reified Christian God in three different races. Discourse of racial issue in postcolonial theory is mostly used as the instrument to understand the context to interpret. This article decided to explore the film rather than the novel in order to get a more holistic analysis by the addition of cinematographic features beside the intrinsic aspects of narrative. The result of this study shows that God image is personified and reconstructed into non-white races to challenge the racial issue and undermine the discourse of power between white, African American, Middle East, and Asian-American.
