 Abstract

ABSTRACT
This paper will explain why China is always increasing military spending and its threat towards East Asian regionalism. This paper is a written literature analysis using qualitative analysis method. The results showed that the purpose of China's increased military budget is to safeguard national security. As a mater of fact, China is often in conflict with a number of other countries in the same region. Japan and South Korea are two countries that have always been the reason for China to modernize its military equipment. This is done with the goal of deterrence, defense and enhancing compellence. It is also important to mention that balance of power alliance is key for China in maintaining state sovereignty, especially considering conflicts like the East Chine Sea and South China Sea. That is why Chinas general purpose is purely related to security dilemma. Lastly, this paper aims to advance the thought that every country in conflict should employ negotiation to pursue their interests in order to prevent fatal loss due to conflicts.
