ABSTRACTMelayu is one of the tribes in Indonesia that upholds the culture of collectiveness. It can be seen from the interactions of Melayu people, in the form of brotherhood. Fraternal relations in the Melayu culture are indicated by the mutual efforts of functioning as brothers so that the existing relationships can be maintained properly. The purpose of this study was to determine the Amanah brother using an indigeneous psychological approach. A total of 288 adolescents in Pekanbaru Riau were given the questionnaires with open questions which we modified from Kim (2009). We analyze the experimental data using a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods with lndigeneous Psychology approach, which makes it possible to see every phenomenon in accordance with the relevant context. Response categorized based on thematic similarities, then the frequency response in was cross tabulated by the sex of the respondent. The study found that there are four categories of characteristics Amanah brother, namely ( 1) the character (59.5%), (2) the role (23.6%), and (3) the kindness (16.9%).
