ABSTRACTBackground: The aging in the elderly can be a risk factor for tooth loss. Tooth loss might adversely affect elderly dental and oral health. In an effort to overcome these problems, prosthodontic treatment is needed for elderly. However, not all needs of prosthodontic treatment are changed to demand because many factors affect demand including the willingness to pay. Objectives: To analyze the relationship between sociodemographic factors (gender, education, economic status, distance, travel time), willingness to pay, needs (functional and normative) with demand of prosthodontics treatment in the elderly. Method: This was a cross-sectional study involving 100 subjects from Kramat Jati Sub-district Health Center who were 60 years old or older. Sociodemographic data was obtained from the recording of subjects personal data, willingness to pay and demand for prosthodontic treatment was obtained from questionnaires modification Kamal Shigli et al with Dandekeri S et al, and prosthodontic treatment needs were determined by functional need based on shortened Dental Arch (SDA) and normative needs based on the WHO oral health assessment form 1997 in each jaw. Result: The willingness to pay and needs (functional and normative on the mandible) had a significant relationship with the demand of prosthodontic treatment in the elderly There is a significant relationship between distance and travel time to health facilities with demand for prosthodontic treatment, education with the functional need, travel time to health facilities with the normative need on the mandible, and travel time to health facilities with willingness to pay for prosthodontic treatment. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between willingness to pay and needs (functional and normative on the mandible) with the demand of prosthodontic treatment in the elderly.
