ABSTRAKBrasenia schreberi J.F. Gmel or known also as water shield, was found in small natural pounds in Samosir Island during expedition in 2012. This species was known as "ate ateni aek" by the local people and has been used as source of traditional medicine. Although having wide spectrum of distribution in the world, this species is categorized as rare plant due to the existing of small population. Conservation of this species was suggested to be collected in a new developing area i.e. Samosir Botanic Gardens.
