ABSTRAK
Di tengah absennya tim nasional Belanda dalam ajang Piala Dunia 2018 di Rusia, munculsebuah film romance-commedy yang mengangkat kejayaan Belanda di Piala Dunia 2010di Afrika Selatan. Film berjudul Gek Van Oranje (2018) karya Pim Hoeve ini berbentukmosaik cerita tentang kisah beberapa tokoh yang tidak saling berkaitan, selama mengikutiperhelatan pertandingan Piala Dunia 2010. Keunikan dari film ini adalah antusiasme paratokoh dalam mendukung tim negaranya dalam setiap pertandingan Piala Dunia 2010 yangberkaitan erat dengan kecintaan terhadap negara atau nasionalisme. Penelitian inimencoba mengkaji lebih lanjut bagaimana hubungan sepakbola dan nasionalismedihadirkan melalui simbol-simbol dalam film tersebut. Untuk menjawab pertanyaantersebut digunakan teori tanda dalam semiotik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwasepakbola berdampak positif terhadap rasa nasionalisme masyarakat Belanda. Hal inikarena sepakbola menjadi wadah untuk mengekspresikan dan mewujudkan nasionalismemelalui penggunaan simbol-simbol negara dan tradisi-tradisi tertentu selama mengikutipertandingan sepakbola. Selain itu, sepakbola juga menjadi momen untuk menyuarakankesetaraan kelompok-kelompok masyarakat yang berbeda.

ABSTRACT
Amidst the absence of the Netherlands in the World Cup 2018 in Russia, a romancecomedyfilm is released, which brought up the glory of the Netherlands in the World Cup2010 in South Africa. The film titled Gek Van Oranje (2018) which is directed by PimHoeve consists of a mosaic stories of several characters who are not related during thefootball matches in World Cup 2010. The uniqueness of this film is the enthusiasm ofeach character in supporting their country's team in every match during World Cup 2010,which is allegedly related to the love of patriotism or nationalism. This research attemptsto further examine how the relation between football and nationalism is presented throughthe symbols in the film. To answer the question, the theory of signs in semiotics whichstudies the meaning in signs is used. The results show that football has positive impactson the sense of nationalism in Dutch society. This is because football has the role as themedium for expression and showing nationalism through the use of the symbols of thestate and the preservation of certain traditions during the football matches. In addition, football match will also be the moment to voice the equality of different groups in the society.
