Tesis ini membahas mengenai representasi fantasi boyfriend dalam fandom yang muncul karena hubungan parasosial. Dengan menggunakan paradigma konstruktivisme, penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif di mana peneliti melakukan analisis multimodalitas untuk melihat representasi fantasi boyfriend di Twitter yang disebabkan karena adanya hubungan parasosial. Selain analisis multimodalitas dilakukan pula wawancara untuk mengetahui bagaimana hubungan parasosial yang dirasakan penggemar dan bagaimana hal tersebut mempengaruhi representasi yang mereka gambarkan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat representasi fantasi boyfriend yang hadir karena hubungan parasosial Teori yang digunakan adalah teori parasosial oleh Horton dan Wohl serta teori representasi oleh Stuart Hall. Konten Twitter akan dianalisis menggunakan analisis visual oleh Kress dan Van Leuween dan analisis Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL). Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa representasi fantasi boyfriend ditampilkan berdasarkan karakteristik idola yang penggemar dapatkan dari hubungan parasosial setelah mengkonsumsi media. Hubungan parasosial tidak hanya terjadi antara idola dan penggemarnya namun juga antar penggemar. Sedangkan, karakteristik idola yang didapatkan, merupakan dasar utama dalam merepresentasikan fantasi boyfriend itu sendiri.

This thesis talks about how fans represent the fantasy of boyfriend with the help of parasocial relationship in their Tweets. Using constructivism as the paradigm, this research is a qualitative research where the researcher analyses some tweets using multimodality to help to see how the fantasy of boyfriend as the result of parasocial relationship. Besides multimodality, the researcher also did some interviews to find out how fans experience parasocial relationship and how they see their idol and imagining them as boyfriends.

The purpose of this research is to see how fans represent the fantasy of boyfriend that they have on the idols that is caused by parasocial relationship. Parasocial theory by Horton and Wohl dan representation by Stuart Hall are used in this research. Then, the tweets that are used in this research are analysed using visual analysis by Kress and Van Leeuwen and Systemic Functional Linguistic (SFL) by Halliday.

The results show that the fantasy representation of boyfriend following the parasocial relationship after using media. It also shows that parasocial relationship leads the fans to know about their idols characteristic that helps them to represent them as a boyfriend. It also shows that paracosial relationship not only happens between fans and their idol but also amongst the fans themselves. Results also show that the characteristic of the idol helps a lot to build the representation of boyfriends fantasy.
