ABSTRAKTulisan ini membahas tentang bagaimana tubuh dan lingkungan saling bertransaksi dalam proses pencerapan informasi spasial oleh tunanetra. Dalam proses ini, tubuh dan lingkungan secara bersama-sama berperan sebagai enabling device yang mengisi kekosongan fungsional pada mata. Enabling device menghasilkan beberapa jenis transaksi dan mekanisme yang akan terkait juga dengan keakuratan pencerapan informasi spasial esensial. Berbagai jenis transaksi antara tubuh dan lingkungan ini ditunjukkan melalui studi kasus pencerapan informasi yang diidentifikasi dari rekaman video kegiatan sehari-hari tunanetra. Analisis dari studi kasus menghasilkan temuan yang memperkuat pembahasan terkait transaksi tubuh dan lingkungan dalam proses pencerapan informasi spasial. Setiap transaksi yang dihasilkan oleh tubuh dan lingkungan memiliki keakuratannya tersendiri tergantung pada informasi spasial apa yang hendak dicerap oleh tunanetra.

ABSTRACT

This writing discusses how the transaction between the body and the environment in the process of perceiving the spatial information by the blind. In this process, the body and the environment together act as enabling devices that substitute the functional inability of the eye. Enabling devices produce several types of transactions and mechanisms which are related to the accuracy in perceiving essential spatial information. Various types of transactions between the body and the environment are demonstrated through case studies of perceiving spatial information identified from video recordings of the daily activities of the blind. The analysis of the case studies produces findings that support the discussion related to the body and environmental transactions in the process of perceiving spatial information. Every transaction that is produced by the body and the environment has particular levels of accuracy depending on what spatial information is needed to be perceived by the blind.
