Dalam konteks perkembangan industri media massa, tantangan para fotografer (fotojurnalis) di era digital berhadapan dengan tuntutan nilai objektivitas dan proses manipulasi visual jurnalisme. Representasi pada fotojurnalisme terkandung dalam salah satu bentuk dari estetika jurnalisme. Penulis memandang bahwa hasil karya fotojurnalisme dapat mengupayakan cara para fotografer memilih untuk menggunakan fotografi sebagai 'a different way of seeing'. Tulisan ini menawarkan pentingnya meninjau kembali terhadap membangun sikap intensional dalam proses penciptaan fotografi jurnalistik. Melalui metode distingsi konseptual, tulisan ini menawarkan bagaimana nilai fotojurnalisme tidak terlepas dari pengalaman estetis fotografer dengan melibatkan peran emosi dan narasi dalam sebuah fotografi. Lebih lanjut, tulisan ini akan bertumpu pada pemikiran Mikel Dufrenne mengenai The Phenomenology of Aesthetic Experience sebagai teori utama. Kemudian dengan metode fenomenologi digunakan untuk memperlihatkan bagaimana proses performatif pada karya fotojurnalisme ini dipengaruhi oleh kemampuan seseorang mengeksplorasi gestur secara intensional, diikuti dengan pengalaman estetis sebagai Welstanchauung seorang fotografer. Alhasil, tulisan ini berusaha untuk mengartikulasi peran pengalaman estetis subjektif terlibat dalam membentuk representasi fotojurnalisme yang bekerja secara intersubjektif.

In the context of the development of the mass media industry, the challenges of photographers (photojournalist) in the digital age are faced with demands for objectivity and the process of manipulation of visual journalism. Representation of photojournalism is embodied in one form of journalism aesthetics. The author considers that the work of photojournalism can work out the way photographers choose to use photography as "a different way of seeing". This article offers the importance of revisiting towards building intentional attitudes in the process of creating journalistic photography. Through the conceptual distinction method, this article offers how the value of photojournalism is inseparable from the photographer's aesthetic experience by involving the role of emotion and narrative in photography. Furthermore, this article will rely on Mikel Dufrenne's The Phenomenology of Aesthetic Experience as the main theory. Then, the phenomenological method is used to show how this performative process in photojournalism influenced by one's ability to explore gestures intentionally, followed by aesthetic experience as a photographer’s Welstanchauung. As a result, this article seeks to articulate the role of subjective aesthetic experiences involved in forming photojournalism representation that work intersubjectively.
