 Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic is changing the dynamics between people and places through the application of social distancing. Meanwhile, place is crucial for the community to gather and execute their activity. This encourages the importance of resilience for the community. This study aims to look at the relationship between place attachment and community resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic. Measurement of place attachment used a measurement tool from Williams and Vaske (2003), and community resilience was measured by CCRAM-28. This study recruited 152 participants who were members of an interest and activity-based community that had a collective gathering place. It was found that place attachment was positively and significantly correlated with community resilience, and contributed 25.8% to the variance of community resilience. Each dimension of place attachment was also found to predicts community resilience.
