 Abstract

Conduct problems arise concerns in society because of the impacts on adolescents and the people surrounding them. In Indonesia, conduct problems had led to criminal behaviors. The condition is getting worse in the current pandemic situation by violating the order in efforts to handle the outbreak. Early detection becomes an effort to reduce the risk of conduct problems. The Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) had widely used to detect conduct problems in adolescents. Future studies are needed to evaluate the accuracy of the SDQ for detecting conduct problems in Indonesia. This study aimed to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of the Indonesian version of the SDQ conduct problems subscale and to identify an optimum cut-off score for screening conduct problems in adolescents. The accuracy was examined by comparing the result of the SDQ with the diagnostic interview as a gold standard. The interview was conducted to 40 adolescents acquired from high schools in Jakarta selected by a double-blind technique based on the screening results. Crosstabs analysis showed that the SDQ conduct problems subscale has a sensitivity value of 77.3% and a specificity value of 83.3%. ROC analysis showed that the cut-off score of 4 used in this study is ideal to identify individuals with conduct problems. In conclusion, the Indonesian version of the SDQ conduct problems subscale has good accuracy for screening conduct problems. These findings show that the SDQ has the potential to be utilized in Indonesia.
