Sistem tata udara mengonsumsi sebagian besar energi listrik pada gedung. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan upaya untuk meningkatkan efisiensi sistem tata udara untuk menghemat penggunaan energi. Salah satu komponen sistem tata udara yang mengonsumsi listrik besar adalah motor induksi pada pompa. Penggunaan pompa sistem katup untuk mengontrol debit aliran air tidaklah efisien. Namun, hal ini dapat dihindari dengan memanfaatkan Variable Speed Drive (“VSD”) yang dapat mengendalikan debit aliran dengan prinsip pengendalian kecepatan putar motor melalui perubahan frekuensi input. Penelitian ini melakukan analisis terhadap penggunaan konsumsi energi listrik pada sistem tata udara gedung beserta perbandingannya saat sebelum dan sesudah penerapan VSD untuk mengetahui besarnya penghematan energi.

Air conditioning system consumes most of the electrical energy in buildings. Therefore, further efforts are required to improve the efficiency of an air conditioning system to save electricity. One of the components of an air conditioning system that consumes a large amount of electricity is the induction motor on the pump. The use of a valve system pump to control the flow of water is inefficient. However, this can be avoided by utilizing a Variable Speed Drive (“VSD”) to control the flow rate which controls the rotational speed of the motor by changing the input frequency. This study aims to analyze the use of electrical energy consumption of an air conditioning system and its comparison before and after the application of VSD to determine the amount of energy savings.
