Karakteristik yang terbentuk dalam hubungan kemitraan membuat pengemudi ojek online memiliki ciri khas sebagai bagian dari kelompok kelas pekerja rentan, atau biasa disebut dengan prekariat. Melalui studi etnografi dan pendekatan fenomenologi, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa sumber kerentanan utama dipicu oleh implementasi perjanjian kemitraan dan pemberlakuan sistem gamifikasi kerja. Belum lagi pandemi Covid-19 menjadi konteks yang memperburuk sisi kerentanan dalam sistem kerja ojek online. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi langsung ke beberapa pangkalan dan tempat tinggal informan, serta wawancara mendalam baik secara tatap muka langsung maupun media online yang bertujuan untuk menggali interpretasi individu pengemudi dalam menghadapi situasi yang dialaminya. Terungkap bahwa pemaknaan individu pengemudi turut berpengaruh namun tidak terbatas pada tataran kognitif, tetapi sampai pada level praktik sosial dalam keseharian. Strategi adaptasi kemudian muncul sebagai respon pengemudi ojek online untuk bertahan hingga keluar dari kesulitan pada permainan gamifikasi yang diciptakan oleh perusahaan. Sekaligus sebagai langkah untuk menyesuaikan diri dan meminimalisasi dampak dari pandemi Covid-19 yang sedang terjadi. Strategi yang muncul dalam menghadapi kerentanan dalam hubungan kemitraan dan sistem gamifikasi kerja antara lain: penentuan area operasi, pemanfaatan sistem dalam aplikasi, dan penetapan target harian. Sementara strategi untuk beradaptasi pada konteks Pandemi Covid-19 yaitu: penyesuaian jam operasi, irit/penghematan, dan penerapan protokol kesehatan.

The characteristics that are formed in partnership relation make ojek online drivers have the characteristics of being part of a vulnerable working-class group, or commonly referred as precariat. Through ethnographic studies and phenomenological approaches, this research founds that the main source of vulnerability is triggered by the implementation of partnership agreement and the gamification of work systems. Moreover, the Covid-19 pandemic has become a context that aggravate the vulnerability side of the ojek online working system. Data collection was carried out by direct observation to several bases and informants' residences, then face-to-face in-depth interviews or through online media that aimed to explore the driver’s individual interpretations in dealing with the situations they must faced. It is revealed that the individual meaning of the driver also influences but is not limited to the cognitive level, but also reaches the level of social practice in daily life. The adaptation strategy then emerged as the response of ojek online drivers to survive or got out from the difficulties of the gamification game created by the company. As well as a step to adapt and minimize the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Strategies that appear in dealing with vulnerabilities of partnership relation and gamification of work systems include: determining the area of operation, utilizing the system in applications, and setting daily targets. Meanwhile, the strategies to adapt to the context of the Covid-19 pandemic are: adjusting operating time, saving money, and implementing health protocols.
