Makalah ini membahas dampak penurunan tarif FTA terhadap kualitas produk impor dan ekspor di Industri Otomotif. Kualitas diukur dengan pendekatan unit value. Dengan data ekspor-impor dari dokumen Pemberitahuan Impor Barang (PIB) dan Pemberitahuan Ekspor Barang (PEB), makalah ini menangkap dampak penurunan tarif level perusahaan terhadap harga impor dan ekspor menggunakan metode Difference-in-Difference (DiD). Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa penurunan tarif tidak berpengaruh terhadap harga impor. Penurunan tarif FTA dengan negara berpendapatan rendah berdampak pada penurunan harga ekspor. Hal ini mengindikasikan terjadinya economies of scale. Sementara itu penurunan tarif FTA dengan negara berpendapatan tinggi belum berdampak pada peningkatan kualitas produk ekspor

This paper discusses the impact of reducing FTA tariffs on the quality of imported and exported products in Automotive Industry. Quality is measured by unit value approach. Using data from Indonesia customs declaration documents, this paper captures the causality of firm level tariffs reduction on import and export prices using the Difference-in-Difference (DiD). The results show that tariffs reduction has no effect on import prices. The reduction in FTA tariffs with low-income countries will lower export prices. It indicates the occurrence of economies of scale. Meanwhile, the reduction in FTA tariffs with high-income countries has no impact on improving the quality of export products.
