Penelitian ini membahas novel yang berjudul Исповедь /Ispovet’/ ’Pengakuan’ karya dari Leo Tolstoy, di mana penelitian ini berfokus mengenai bagaimana agnostisisme yang dialami tokoh Aku dalam novel. Menurut Le Poidevin, agnostisisme merupakan pandangan yang meragukan keberadaan atau eksistensi Tuhan. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pandangan agnostisisme tokoh Aku yang terdapat dalam novel Исповедь. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif-analisis dengan teori psikoanalisis Sigmund Freud mengenai id, ego, dan superego didukung konsep agnostisisme Le Poidevin. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan, ditemukan bahwa pandangan agnostisisme tokoh Aku banyak dipengaruhi oleh faktor lingkungan sekitarnya (superego), dimana tokoh Aku mengalami berbagai krisis pemikiran religius yang mengarah kepada keraguan terhadap eksistensi Tuhan, yang berdampak pada kehidupannya yang terus mencari jawaban akan eksistensi Tuhan dan makna kehidupannya.

This research discusses the novel entitled Исповедь /Ispovet’/ ’Confession’ by Leo Tolstoy, where this reseacrh focuses on how agnosticism is experienced by “I” figure in the novel. According to Le Poidevin, agnosticism is a view that doubts the existence or existence of God. The aim of this research is to find out how agnostic view of “I” figure is found in the novel Исповедь. The research method used is descriptive-analytical method with Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic theory regarding the id, ego, and superego supported by the concept of Le Poidevin's agnosticism. Based on the research that has been done, it was found that the agnostic view of “I” figure was heavily influenced by the surrounding environmental factors (superego), where “I” figure experienced various crises of religious thought that led to doubts about the existence of God, which had an impact on his life who continued to seek answers to God's existence and meaning of his life.
