Novel epistoler disebut sebagai genre sastra yang memiliki kemampuan dalam menyampaikan emosi secara efektif, karena dapat menampilkan sudut pandang subjektif karakternya secara mendalam. Dengan tokoh utama perempuan, novel ini mampu memperlihatkan subjektivitas karakter perempuan tersebut, dan mengaitkannya dengan gerakan feminisme gelombang keempat yang berfokus pada pemberdayaan perempuan. Artikel ini membahas isu mengenai diskriminasi gender yang terjadi pada tokoh-tokoh perempuan dalam novel Un Fils Parfait karya Mathieu Menegaux dan perjuangan mereka memperoleh keadilan. Daphné, seorang ibu dan wanita karir berkeinginan untuk membebaskan kedua putrinya dari suaminya, Maxime, yang diketahui melakukan tindakan agresi seksual pada mereka, meskipun tanpa adanya perlindungan ataupun pembelaan yang adil dari aparat kepolisian dan hukum Prancis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan bentuk-bentuk resistensi yang dilakukan oleh tokoh Daphné untuk memperoleh keadilan gender, baik bagi dirinya sendiri maupun kedua putrinya. Dengan metode kualitatif, penelitian ini akan menggunakan teori struktur naratif Roland Barthes untuk membedah struktur teks dan teori resistensi oleh James C. Scott, serta dibantu oleh teori feminisme eksistensial dari Simone de Beauvoir (1949) untuk memahami perlawanan Daphné memperoleh kesetaraan agar tidak terjebak pada determinasi sosial. Hasil analisis mengemukakan bentuk resistensi yang terjadi pada tokoh Daphné adalah resistensi terbuka dan semi-terbuka yang digunakan untuk melawan diskriminasi gender di era modern.

Epistolary novel is a literary genre that has the ability to convey emotions effectively, because it can display the subjective point of view of a character in depth. With a female main character, this novel is suitable to show the subjectivity of that female character, in accordance with the fourth wave feminism movement that focuses on empowering women. This article discusses the issue of gender discrimination that occurs in female characters in Mathieu Menegaux's novel, Un Fils Parfait, and their battle to achieve justice. Daphné, a mother and a career woman, fights to free her two daughters from her husband, Maxime, who is known to have sexually assaulted them, even without any protection or fair defense from the police and the French law. This study aims to describe the forms of resistance carried out by Daphné to obtain gender justice both for herself and her two daughters. With a qualitative method, this research will use Roland Barthes's theory of narrative structure to analyse the structure of the text and the theory of resistance by James C. Scott, as well as the existential feminism theory of Simone de Beauvoir (1949) to understand Daphné's resistance to achieve equality, so that she is not trapped in social determination. The results of the analysis show that the form of resistance that occurs in Daphné's character is open and semi-open resistance which is used to fight gender discrimination in the modern era.
