Perayaan Tahun Baru Imlek (春节 chūnjié) dan Cap Go Meh (元宵节 yuánxiāo jié) adalah perayaan tahunan kaum Tionghoa di seluruh dunia, termasuk di Indonesia.Perayaan Tahun Baru Imlek dan Cap Go Meh terhambat karena pemerintah Indonesia mengeluarkan Instruksi Presiden Republik Indonesia Nomor 14 Tahun 1967 yang mengatur tentang kepercayaan dan adat istiadat Tiongkok. Artikel ini membahas berbagai faktor yang menyebabkan pemerintah Indonesia mengeluarkan Instruksi Presiden Republik Indonesia Nomor 14 Tahun 1967. Artikel ini secara spesifik membahas mengenai perayaan Tahun Baru Imlek dan Cap Go Meh pada masa berlakunya Instruksi Presiden Republik Indonesia Nomor 14 Tahun 1967 berlandaskan hasil wawancara dengan dua orang narasumber yang mengalami dampak dari Instruksi Presiden Republik Indonesia Nomor 14 Tahun 1967. Hasil analisis menunjukkan pelaksanaan Tahun Baru Imlek dan Cap Go Meh mengalami perubahan karena adanya Instruksi Presiden Republik Indonesia Nomor 14 Tahun 1967. Instruksi Presiden Republik Indonesia Nomor 14 Tahun 1967 serta undang-undang lain yang dikeluarkan dalam upaya asimilasi telah menyebabkan generasi muda kaum Tionghoa kurang mengenal budaya Tionghoa, terutama yang berkaitan dengan makna perayaan Tahun Baru Imlek dan Cap Go Meh.

Chinese New Year celebrations (春节 chūnjié) and Cap Go Meh (元宵节 yuánxiāo jié) , an annual Chinese celebrations around the world, including Indonesia. However, the

implementation of the Chinese New Year celebrations and Cap Go Meh was hampered because the government issued the Presidential Instruction of the Republic of Indonesia Number 14 of 1967 (Inpres 14/1967), which regulates Chinese religious beliefs and customs. This article discusses various factors that caused the Indonesian government to issue Presidential Instruction Number 14 of 1967. This article spesifically discusses the Chinese New Year celebrations and Cap Go Meh during the Presidential Instruction of the Republic of Indonesia Number 14 of 1967 period based on the results of interviews with two sources who experienced the impact of the enactment of Presidential Instruction of the Republic of Indonesia Number 14 of 1967. The result of the analysis show that the implementation of the Lunar New Year and Cap Go Meh has changed due to the Presidential Instruction of the Republic of Indonesia Number 14 of 1967. Presidential Instruction of the Republic of Indonesia Number 14 of 1967 and other laws issued in an assimilation effort have caused the younger generation of Indonesian Chinese to be less familiar with Chinese culture, especially related to the meaning of Chinese New Year celebrations and Cap Go Meh.
