Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat peran stres kerja dan harapan terhadap munculnya gejala depresi pada anggota Polri. Paparan terhadap banyaknya stresor dalam pekerjaan polisi dan terjadi dalam waktu yang lama dapat mendorong munculnya gejala depresi. Dampak dari munculnya gejala depresi dapat menimbulkan masalah dalam perilaku, psikologis, maupun fisik. Di sisi lain, harapan akan adanya hal-hal baik di masa depan dapat membuat polisi menjadi optimis dengan masa depannya dapat mencegah munculnya gejala depresi. Penelitian dilakukan pada anggota Polri yang bertugas di Polda Metro Jaya dan jajarannya. Alat ukur yang digunakan The Operational-Police Stress Questionnaire (PSQ-Op), The Adult Hope Scale (AHS), dan Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9). Data yang terkumpul sebanyak 315 orang. Hasil analisa statistik menggunakan regresi berganda menunjukkan bahwa model cocok dengan asumsi yaitu stres kerja dan harapan berperan signifikan terhadap munculnya gejala depresi pada anggota Polri (R2=0,31; F(2, 312) = 15,123; p < .001). Stres kerja berperan lebih besar terhadap munculnya gejala depresi pada anggota Polri dibandingkan variabel harapan.

The aim of this study is to explore the role of work stress and hope on the emergence of symptoms of depression in members of the Indonesian National Police. Exposure to many stressors in police work and over an extended of time can promote depressive symptoms. The impact of the emergence of symptoms of depression can cause problems in behavior, both psychologica, and physical. On the other hand, the hope that there will be better things in the future can make the police officers to be optimistic about the future and prevent the emergence of symptoms of depression. The research was conducted on police officers at Polda Metro Jaya. The measuring instruments used were The Operational-Police Stress Questionnaire (PSQ-Op), The Adult Hope Scale (AHS), and the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9). The data were collected from 315 respondents. The results of statistical analysis using multiple regression indicate that the model fits the assumption that job stress and hope play a significant role in the emergence of depressive symptoms in the Indonesian National Police (R2 = 0.31; F(2,312) = 15.123; p< .001).
