This is not a full list of the numerous books and articles on the subject of the book which have appeared since it was published. It includes some of the most important of them, particularly those which have persuaded me to revise some of the ideas expressed in the book, as well as a few earlier books which I failed to notice when I wrote it. I do not mention new editions of Arabic works, but I draw attention to a few translations of them. I have also taken the opportunity to correct a few mis-statements. For a full bibliography: J.
