ABSTRAkTeks "Siti Zuhrah" hanya terekam dalam bentuk syair dan dalam empat buah naskah. Tiga naskah terdapat di Perpustakaan Nasional, Jakarta, dan satu naskah di Perpustakaan Universitas Leiden, Belanda. Keempat teks tersebut merupakan salinan, yang dalam penelitian ini disebut teks A, B, C, dan D.
Untuk keperluan telaah sastra diperlukan teks yang lengkap. Oleh sebab itu, penyuntingan keempat teks tersebut dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode gabungan mengingat tiap-tiap teks memiliki kekurangan dan kelebihan. Di samping itu, keempat teks itu saling melengkapi, Unsur korup atau lakuna yang terdapat pada teks A, B, C, atau D tidak dijumpai lagi dalam teks suntingan. Semua bait teks suntingan telah memenuhi konvensi syair, yaitu terdiri atas 4 larik dan bersajak a-a-a-a.
Hasil perbandingan teks memperlihatkan bahwa struktur cerita keempat teks itu sama. Perbedaan kecil yang disebabkan oleh adanya bacaan varian (variant reading) tidak menimbulkan versi lain.
"Syair Siti Zuhrah" tergolong cerita kepahlawanan yang bernapaskan Islam. Sifat dan perilaku tokoh utama patut diteladani, terutama bagi umat/pemimpin Islam dalam menjalankan roda pemerintahan dan juga perintah-Nya. Amanat yang tersirat dalam teks "Syair Siti Zuhrah" menyangkut ajaran tentang amal makruf nahi mungkar. Makna teks "Syair Siti Zuhrah" adalah raja Islam idaman.
ABSTRACTThe text "Siti Zuhrah" is printed only in form of poem and in four manuscripts. Three manuscripts are located in the National Library, Jakarta, and the other one is located at the Leiden University Library, Netherlands. The four texts are copies. whereas in this research are called text A, B, C and D.
For the purpose of studying literature a complete text is required. Accordingly. proofreading the four texts is carried out by using combination method because each text has its own deficiency and excess. Further more, each of the four texts are completing to the other. Corrupt element in text A, B, C and D is no longer available in the edited text. All couplets in the edited text have comply with the poem convention, i.e. consists of four rows and rhyming a-a-a-a.
After comparing the texts it is shown that the story structure of the four texts is the same. A small difference caused by the existence of variant reading does not Create any Other version.
"Siti Zuhrah Poem" is classified as heroism story with Islamic breathe. The quality and the behavior of the prominent figure are worth for an example, especially for the people or leader of Islam in carrying out the governmental tasks and complying to God's commands. The message implied in "Siti Zuhrah Poem" is pertaining to the study related to doing more good things and to keep away from bad things. The meaning in "Siti Zuhrah Poem" is an ideal Islam king.
