The World Social Forum (WSF), a gathering forum for civil society groups and social movements, held it's 3"' meeting at Porto Alegre, Brasil on January 23-28, 2003. The forum itself is known for its deep commitment towards building a world community based on good relationship between human and the environment. This paper is a reflection of the writers experience on that forum and will review of the history, goals and organisation of the WSF and its relevance to the social movements in Indonesia. The paper is intended to offer some insights about global social movements, which might be used as a reference for local social-movements
