 Abstract

The research show and identify the problem solving pattern and the different between that are used A program and B FIK UI new students on 1992/1993. The research utilized exptoralive-deskriptive design. Samples consist of 67 students, included 27 students from A and 40 from B. Data are analized by deskriptive and inferencial statistic, Hypothesis are teted by t test hypotesis.
The result show 5 (five) problem solving patterns that are used constructively; maintaining self confidence and competition, developing positive perception, not decreasing the pressure by using substantial or expressing the anger, and not deny confrontation and withdrawl. The highest mean from the result is not using problem solving pattern by decreasing pressure with substantional or expressing anger. The result shows no significant meaning between A and B program (0,01, and t=2,36), refused H1 hypotesis, and accepted H0 hypotesis.
