This article explains the use of archival system in the government offices in Indonesia. The archieval system in Indonesia has four periods i.e. Remainder of VOC from XVII Century until 1799, Netherlands Colonisation in !9th Century, Netherlands Colonisation in 20th Century, and the Government of Republic of Indonesia period. Sistem Tata Naskah (manuscript order system) and Sistem Pola Bant (new order system) are the two systems emerged after the independence of the Republic of Indonesia. The existence of Sistem Pola Baru is only as an alternative system if'the old system is not effective, because the objectives of archive handling is to help archivist to retrieve the file/document easily
