Recent studies describe Infidelity in marriage as a serious offense and is difficult to forgive, especially for individuals with the neuroticism trait. Mindfulness is known to be able to help increase forgiveness in individuals who have been cheated on by their partners in marriage. The study was conducted to examine the effect of mindfulness as a moderator in the relationship between the neuroticism trait and forgiveness in individuals who experience marriage infidelity. Data were taken using convenience sampling on male and female participants aged ≥ 18 years, heterosexual, married, had or still experienced being cheated on by their partner. Research participants as many as 329 people filled out the Marital Offence-Specific Forgiveness Scales (MOFS) questionnaire to measure forgiveness, the International Personal Pool-Big Five Model 50 (IPIP-BFM50) dimensions of emotional stability to measure the neuroticism trait variable, and Cognitive-Affective Mindfulness Scales- Revised (CAMS-R) to measure the mindfulness variable. Through moderated regression analysis, it was found that mindfulness did not play a significant role in moderating the relationship between the neuroticism trait and forgiveness. However, there is a trend of change in the form of forgiveness in participants with the neuroticism trait when viewed from the level of mindfulness. This indicates the potential that leads to a dynamic process which is then able to help neuroticism individuals to forgive.
